First Impression Friday is a meme created by J.W. Martin, where you give a few impressions of a book you have recently started, and predict what you will think at the end. It’s cool because you get to look back after finishing the book to see what you were thinking at the beginning!
I think I’m about… 30-ish pages in, and I had to stop myself to jot down first impression notes before continuing right on with the book! Eliza already seems so relateable, and I like the way the comic and texts are being incorporated into the story.
It follows the story of a girl, Eliza, who is the anonymous creator of a super famous webcomic called Monstress Sea. In her “real life”, her social life does not exist. She is the weirdo and outcast. But online, she has a few friends, and many, many, fans—this is the world that she prefers.
That is, until Eliza meets the biggest fanfiction writer of Monstress Sea when he transfers to her school, and she starts to see something in her real life that is worthwhile.
“But when Eliza’s secret is accidentally shared with the world, everything she’s built—her story, her relationship with Wallace, and even her sanity—begins to fall apart.”
Right now, all I want is:
1: To finish the book as soon as possible
2: To read the Monstress Sea comic
3: To be friends with Eliza!
I predict I will be giving this book five stars.
